FINAL SHOWS IN SEPTEMBER 2024
The Performance Program at School of Rock Seattle is our hallmark music program that consists of a weekly group rehearsal where students learn by playing in a band with their peers!
Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience, and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then get the 1-on-1 support they need in their weekly private music lessons, refining the skills and concepts that those songs introduce.
The goal of this curriculum is to prepare our students for live performances. Every season, School of Rock Seattle Performance Program students take the stage and play at local Seattle music venues in front of a live audience!

GREEN DAY

Green Day rose to prominence in the early '90s as one of the largest bands in Punk Rock. Mixing Pop-style songwriting with Punk Rock aesthetics, Green Day has continued to be one of, if not the most, successful act in the sub-genre of pop-punk. A wide variety of tempos for drummers, killer guitar parts, dynamic bass riffs, vocal harmonies, and ample opportunities for stage showmanship - our Green Day show will have something for every musician! Parental Advisory: Some lyrical content in this show may not be appropriate for all students.

Join us on a crash course in the great players of the Blues, the genre from which all modern rock is derived! From the original blues pioneers to the 80's blues revival and beyond, this show is not only a great lesson in instrument improvisation, but also why the blues will never fade away! THE BEST OF MOTOWN
PERFORMS ON SEPT. 8TH
REHEARSES THURSDAYS @ 7 - 9 PM
Welcome to Hitsville, USA! The mastermind behind Motown Records’ success was the endlessly entrepreneurial Berry Gordy, whose meticulous approach to the creation, performance, and distribution of music fueled the growth of one of the most successful black-owned businesses in American history. The explosive success of Motown broke new ground by tearing down racial barriers in the music industry, helping to open the door to mainstream success for countless black creators such as Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Diana Ross & the Supremes, the Jackson 5, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye. Motown’s influence has impacted generations of artists since its heyday in the 1960s. Its contributions to the racial integration of the music industry will never be forgotten - nor will its infectious sound.
Travel back in time to an era of fluorescent clothes, poofy hair, the rise of MTV, and the best synth-driven pop anthems you will ever hear! The 80's would not have had its soundtrack without Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, all-girl band The Go- Gos - and non-Pop acts like Guns N’ Roses, Journey, and Bon Jovi. Whether you're a returning student or jumping into the program for the first time, this show will have something for you!
WOODSTOCK
PERFORMS ON SEPT. 22ND
REHEARSES SATURDAYS @ 2 - 4 PM
In 1969, almost half a million people made a pilgrimage to Yasgur’s Farm in upstate New York for three days of peace and music. Catapulting many iconic artists who played this landmark music festival into superstar status, Woodstock embodies the spirit of the 60s. It was a watershed moment for Rock and Roll and its legendary, stylistically diverse artists - like The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Grateful Dead and more - who promoted unity and embraced freedom of expression while performing at the festival.
NEW WAVE
PERFORMS ON SEPT. 1ST
REHEARSES SUNDAYS @ 12 - 2 PM
Get out your synthesizer! Starting out as an extension of Punk Rock, New Wave changed the music scene starting in 1976 in the US and the UK. New Wave encompasses a LOT: American power-pop groups like The Cars and The Knack, the Disco-inspired hits of Blondie, the Reggae-influenced rock of the Police, gloomy goth rockers like The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees, and dance-oriented synth pop artists like Gary Numan and Eurythmics. The legacy of New Wave is still felt today as rock artists continue to experiment with synth textures and embody the quirky and offbeat image that made the New Wave era such a vibrant and influential time.
ONE HIT WONDERS
PERFORMS ON SEPT. 1ST
REHEARSES SUNDAYS @ 4 - 6 PM
They made it to the Billboard Pop Top 40 chart only once in their career - and that's why we love 'em! Semisonic ("Closing Time") and a-ha ("Take On Me") may not quite be household names - but our setlist of One Hit Wonders is sure to be a ride through some of Rock’s most infectiously memorable tunes!
NOW is your chance! House Band is our premiere auditioned group that performs gigs all around Seattle, including Seattle sports events, festivals, and other high-profile events. House Band members must be actively enrolled in Performance Program over the summer, and the House Band Program comes at no extra charge!
